The students who fill the bill have the opportunity to gain some financial support from internal and external sources, traineeship, teaching assistantships, research fellowships, and other academic employment opportunities.

2018 Asia Pacific Smart Disaster Prevention Summit
With the increasing number of graduate students advised by Prof. Chou in the GIS Research Center, a research room had become necessary for better study and resource management. The goal of the research room is to provide students a place of discussion during their school years, and also a transition for the future career in the GIS industry.
In addition to theses, the graduate students join the projects in the Center. Because of the different background and study subjects, each student has opportunitiy to cooperate with different research teams in the divisions of the Center. In order to help students on their own research, as well as to learn skills out from the books. The results of projects also could be the good references for papers of conferences or journals. At the end, the experience of both academy and jobs converts to ability for a better professional career.
The research topics include spatial information, GPS, remote sensing, transportation management, digital learning, disaster monitoring, land use planning, environmental resource and information management.
The Center provides personal space, PC, Internet, printers, scanners, professional books and consultants for the students.
Volunteer Activities-GIS students collected 14 boxes of clothes to donate for indigenous peoples in Flooding areas, northern Vietnam.

My name is Sureeporn Koadpratum, from Thailand.I have received Taiwan Government scholarships to study PhD programs in FCU. Professor Jimmy Chou and the center give me many chances to study and explore GIS technology applications in GIS lab. It is my honor to study and work in a team with many friendly colleagues. I love to be here, Taiwan is very safe and modern!
During my first 2 years studying Ph.D program in the center, I got a full scholarship from Feng Chia University, and research salary from Professor Jimmy Chou, Director of GIS Center. I also got full support from GIS Center for International student exchange program in Japan twice. GIS center is a great environment for studying new technologies about GIS applications. Studying in the center, not only training for your GIS skills but also training for your speaking skill in both Chinese and English languages. If you have any trouble or if you want to study new things, people will always give you time and satisfied answer. I think that the decision of studying in GIS research center is the most valuable one in my life.
