The 130th OGC Technical Committee (130th OGC TC/PC Meeting) was held from November 4 to November 8, 2024, in Goyang, South Korea. Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) of Korea, the event brought together experts, scholars, and industry leaders from around the globe to discuss the latest developments in geospatial technology and the direction of standard-setting efforts. Feng Chia University, as one of the OGC Principal Members, actively participates in the meeting annually, enabling the institution to gain insights into innovative GIS technologies.
The conference was attended by Dr. Hao Chen-Yu, Deputy Division Manager Lo Wen-Shan and Kuan Chih-Wei, as well as Senior Project Manager Shih Chun-Ling, accompanied by several researchers from the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC). They delivered presentations in sessions focused on disaster prevention, artificial intelligence, marine standards, and 3D infrastructure, fostering exchanges with experts across various fields regarding standards and applications.
The theme of the 130th OGC Meeting, AI for Geo, focused on the application and innovation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the geospatial domain. Discussions covered AI’s practical applications in automating spatial data processing, smart city development, disaster prediction and management, as well as Digital Twin technologies. With the rapid advancement of AI, geospatial information systems (GIS) and spatial data processing have achieved new technological breakthroughs.
Additionally, the meeting featured joint sessions with Korea’s premier geospatial technology event, K-GEO Festa 2024, which attracted participation from over 300 companies and research institutions worldwide. The event showcased Korea’s latest geospatial technology applications and developmental directions, emphasizing smart city development, integrated spatial data applications, and Digital Twins technologies applied to transportation, energy, and disaster prevention.
