From November 1st to 2nd, GIS.FCU held a series of events to mark 30th anniversary, including presentations by affiliated companies, an internal GI Day, an international symposium on Geo-Intelligent and Digital Twins Interoperability, and a ceremony and banquet.
The GIS group’s four affiliated companies showcased innovations in smart transportation, AI and IoT, geospatial digital twins, and smart agriculture, with experts from various sectors participating in forums and demonstrations.
The internal GI DAY focused on AI competitions and Large Language Models (LLM), where technical accomplishments were shared. GI DAY (Geoinformatics Interoperability Day) has been an internal event for years, dedicated to technical exchanges.

This year, to mark the 30th anniversary, GI Day featured an AI competition focused on “Old Photos, New Memories,” with creative, AI-driven projects presented by finalists.
The International Symposium on Geo-Intelligent and Digital Twins Interoperability welcomed renowned scholars, including the president of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), the Deputy Director of AIST AIRC (Artificial Intelligence Research Center) in Japan, and a distinguished professor from the Michigan State University. Their insightful presentations sparked lively discussions on current technological trends and the development of geospatial information.
The celebration culminated in a grand banquet attended by important figures, partners, and the GIS graduates. Feng Chia University officials reflected on the group’s growth from a small research lab to a major leader in spatial information.
