GIS.FCU Team Participated The 110th OGC TC/PC Meeting with Fruitful Results

    The 110th OGC TC/PC meeting was held in Singapore on Feb. 24to Mar. 1. The team of GIS Center FengChia University(GIS.FCU) also completed a number of international promotion tasks under the leadership of Director Chou Tien-Yin(Jimmy). In recent years, OGC has paid more and more attention to the Asian market. In this meeting, an Asian Forum has also been set up to discuss in depth the needs and applications of Asia. As the chairman of the Asia Forum, Director Chou hosted and shared the current development and application with representatives from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada, India, etc. Director Chou also shared the Taiwan experience with the participants and put Taiwan’s effort and achievements on the international stage. In this meeting, the GIS Center team also jointly launched the Geo-AI Domain Working Group with Japan AIST, and successfully obtained OGC support. GIS.FCU will play an important role in the international AI geospatial information standard in the future.

    The team members of GIS.FCU also published the results and achievement in many different field sessions, including Dr. Frank Fang published the application and results of Taiwan’s SWE in SWE SWG, Dr. Ivy Chen published the management and application results of underground pipelines in Taiwan in 3DIM DWG, Dr. Milly Yeh published the application of the UAV detection and defense system in three sessions, such as Security/UxS/EDM DWG, Dr. Hao published the development and application of Taiwan’s Rasdaman DataCube in the Coverages & Datacubes session, and Chief Engineer Will Kuan also published the research application of face recognition in the GeoAI session, and published the rapid process and application experience of WebVR in the 3DPS session.

    The commit published a high degree of demonstrating the capabilities of the GIS.FCU team, and after the meeting successfully attracted members of the participating countries to discuss and have a good actual cooperation with each other, including cooperation with the German DataCube team to participate in the EU Horizon 2020 project, cooperation with Japan AIST in Point Cloud project, NASA discussion on UAV detection/defense system application cooperation, cooperation with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. GIS.FCU has occupied an important position in the international geospatial information domain, and continues to cooperate with domestic and foreign units to maximize the benefits.
