GIS Research Center participated in the OGC TC/PC 128th Meeting in Delft Netherlands

The Open Geospatial Consortium’s (OGC) 128th Technical Committee Meeting was held in Delft, Netherlands, from March 25th to 28th, 2024. The event was hosted by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and saw the attendance of nearly 300 experts and scholars from around the world. Among them, including representatives from industry, government and academia. This year’s event saw the highest-ever physical attendance, with over 100 participants joining virtually. As one of OGC’s principal members, the GIS Research Center actively participated in the event. Director Jimmy Chou represented the center at the meeting in the Netherlands. Jimmy delivered reports and shared the center’s achievements in various sessions. Furthermore, Jimmy facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation and OGC. This agreement paves the way for further international collaboration opportunities.

GIS.FCU Participated the OGC TC/PC 127th Meeting in Singapore

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the GIS.FCU seized the opportunity to expand international exchanges. From September 26th to September 29th, in Singapore, we participated in the 127th OGC TC/PC meeting and hosted the OGC Asia Forum Summit. Together with spatial information standard experts and scholars from around the world, they engaged in communication, learning, exchange of ideas, presentations, hosting, and sharing of Taiwan’s experiences. Through these activities, they expanded international collaboration opportunities, allowing the world to once again recognize Taiwan!

FIG Working Week 2023 – Prestigious Event of International Surveying and Spatial Information

The FIG Working Week 2023 was held in Orlando, Florida, from May 28th to June 1st. With the theme “Protecting Our World – Conquering New Frontiers,” the conference gathered hundreds of experts and scholars in surveying and geospatial information from around the world to share their research findings. Director Jimmy Chou Tien-Yin and Dr. Milly Yeh Mei-Ling from GIS.FCU, along with representatives from Taiwan authorities participated in this significant event. They presented Taiwan’s achievements in disaster monitoring and application during the Technical Program session on “Opportunities and Challenges for Climate Change Adaptive Strategies”. Their presentation received enthusiastic feedback from the audience, and discussions on potential future collaborations took place.

GIS.FCU Participated in OGC Testbed-19 Kick-off Meeting!

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of GIS.FCU recent participated in the OGC Testbed-19 kick-off meeting held in Philadelphia, USA, at the headquarters of Cesium Corporation. This international collaboration, made possible by the easing of pandemic restrictions, was represented by Mr. Hao Zhenyu, Deputy Director of the Science and Management Division, and Senior Engineer Mr. Lai Guizhang. The event, which took place from May 9th to May 12th, successfully concluded and marked the beginning of the annual flagship project of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

GIS.FCU was invited by AIRC, AIST to participate the “Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence Evolving Together with Humans”International Symposium.

From February 1st to 3rd, GIS.FCU director Jimmy Chou and Dr. How were invited by the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC) of the largest industrial research institute in Japan, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), to attend an artificial intelligence symposium in Tokyo.

APFITA, Post-pandemic International conference

The 13th Asia-Pacific Agricultural Information Technology Symposium (APFITA) was held in Vietnam in November this year. The first conference started in Japan in 1998 and has been held for more than 20 years. Members of APFITA come from countries in Pan-Pacific. This year, APFITA jointly organized with the World Agricultural Computer Conference (WCCA), attracting experts and scholars in the field of agricultural science and technology from all over the world to participate. APFITA 2024 will return to Tsukuba, Japan. We all look forward for its return.

GIS Research Center, Feng Chia University leads Taiwan delegation to participate the 124th OGC Technical Committee Meeting in Singapore. This Event took place on 2-8 October, with the accompany of officers from the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Council of Agricultural, Executive Yuan (SWCB)and the National Development Council. A special session has been arranged for the direct dialogue between SWCB and OGC high level officials.

Come and Join the Event! INTERPRAEVENT2023 Taiwan

Under the impacts of global warming and climate change, the complex geological environments, climate conditions, and continued change of land use/land cover in mountain regions have made it more challenging to predict mountainous hazards and their impacts on communities. The INTERPRAEVENT 2023 Symposium will take place in National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan. The symposium will last for five days, from 17-21 April in 2023.
