The annual meeting of the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations, GEO Week 2019 was held in Canberra, Australia, from 4-9 November 2019. The Taiwan delegation consists of National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs), National Applied Research Laboratories Taiwan Ocean Research Institute (NARLabs TORI), Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) and GIS Research Center, Feng Chia University (GIS.FCU).

The great success of the Asia-Pacific Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (APFITA) 2019

On the last day of October, the Asia-Pacific Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (APFITA) 2019 has come to the end with great success. This 2-days conference was held at Feng Chia University, Taichung, from 30th to 31st October. It was honorably instructed by the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan; organized by the Taiwan Agricultural Information Association and fully supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C.

As the annual highlight of the agricultural industry in Asia-Pacific, top experts shared the state-of-the-art findings and the latest application in field operations. It is not only motivating but fueling up global agricultural development.

GIS.FCU organized again Taiwan delegation to go to the new southward countries for exchange. In this time, GIS.FCU assisted Soil and Water Conservation Bureau in leading the domestic disaster prevention industry team go to Manila, Philippines to participate in the “IFSEC Philippines 2019” from June 11 to 16, 2019 to build “Taiwan Disaster Prevention Pavilion” so as to actively developed new southward market and demonstrate Taiwan’s disaster prevention technologies and successful experience.

Mazu Patrols and Pilgrimages essential APP!

The team from Feng Chia University has sponsored the charity for 14 years. They built the Tianshang
Shengmu Locating Satellite Network and Dajia Mazu app to provide satellite positioning, navigation, instant images, Jenn Lann Temple live service, route of the Patrols and Pilgrimages which includes the expected arrival time and location, and the believers who are unable to participate in the whole process can easily plan the car trip with the real-time location information on Mazu. The Dajia Mazu app can find the real-time location of the Mazu sedan chair, locate nearby supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, YouBike stations, restrooms, etc. on the mobile phone, and also show real-time images through the four cameras on the sedan chair.
