COVID-19, commonly known as the Wuhen coronavirus, caused a global outbreak of respiratory illness in the recent months and has become the highest healthcare concern worldwide. In order to enhance the situation awareness of the public to the inflection cases, GIS.FCU established the Taiwanese version of Wuhen Coronavirus Dashboard.
GIS.FCU has been engaged in the development of a safe, stable and near-vibration free UAV platforms aimed at relaying super-crisp high-resolution (2048 x 1536) aerial videos in real-time. Comparing to manned aircrafts, UAVs can be deployed in a relatively short time and in a much confined space.
Technology Management Division and R&D Division of GIS.FCU participated in CHISP-1, an international cooperation project with United States and Canada since November, 2012. The development team announced their outcomes in a webinar on April 16, 2013, hosted by the OGC and Directions Magazine.
Rapid growth of urban population brings lots of challenges to the management system of cities and also disturbs wild-life habits close by. It becomes more important than ever to manage and plan a city more in more efficiency and sustainable way. 16 European cities lunched a five-year research project, TURAS (Transitioning towards urban resilience and sustainability) in November, 2011. The project brings together researchers with local authorities and citizens to work out new approaches to urban environmental challenges. GIS.FCU is the first Asia partner, who joined the TURAS project in July, 2012.
Open GeoSMS Interactive Platform has been officially launched, and its funder, ITRI, held a press release in Taipei International Conference Center on 28 June, Feng Chia University, Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, an many famous LBS providers in Taiwan were invited to the release.
In June, 2012, GIS.FCU Director Jimmy Chou and Promotion Division Manager Milly Yeh attended the 2012 Intelligent City Forum in New York City with Taichung Mayor, Jason Hu, In this trip, we visited NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, NYC-311 call center, NYC Office of Emergency Management and UN Statistics Divsion of Department of Economic and Social Affairs. GIS.FCU will further work with those allies we made this time and bring our research capability toward a higher level.
The portal of OGC Asia Forum, http://www.ogc.org.tw/, has been officially established in the early summer of 2012. This portal feeds you the latest news and events about the Forum, and provides useful and compiled documents about OGC standards as well as several showcases in the real world. An ‘online forum’ is also built for Forum members to discuss issues of any kinds in the fields of geospatial information and share experience among member countries so as to promote OGC standards and its membership in Asia.
