In the morning of 12 November 2021, the GIS research canter, Feng Chia University (GIS.FCU) – Taiwan, in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology Thailand (AIT), held the virtual meeting of the MOU signing ceremony. AIT is good academic institution that ranks 15th Globally for SDG#1 No Poverty (2021 Times Higher Education).

The GIS Research Center of Feng Chia University (GIS.FCU) organized the Taiwan delegation again to visit the new southbound country for exchanges. Director Jimmy Chou, along with Assistant Director Huang of Computational Intelligence Technology Center, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan Association of Disaster Prevention Industry (TADPI), Taipei Computer Association, EasyMap Digital Technology, Focus Intelligence Technology, SkyEyes GPS Technology, Geosense Digital Technologies, Geo Informatics, Kiwi Technology, GeoThings, DHTech Engineering Consultant and other industrial representatives to visit Bangkok, Thailand from June 25 to 29, 2018 to participate into exchange and visit of the water conservancy and disaster prevention industry.

Dr. How and Chief Engineer Kuan Chih-Wei attended OGC Testbed-14 kick-off meeting from 2nd to 6th this April at the headquarter of USGS, Reston, VA. In this testbed, GIS.FCU derived funding support from sponsors and will focus on the implementation and discussion on various fields, such as machine learning, OpenAPI, CityGML(3D) and Augmented Reality. During the kickoff meeting, all threads were broken down to small team discussion, representatives from GIS.FCU were required to discuss and clarify the goals and scope for the next half year with other participants and sponsors. Furthermore, separated topic weekly teleconferences will be held for tracing the implementation progress as well as keep working on project scope discussion.

Due to promotion of the New Southbound Policy, Taiwan closely interacts with ASEAN countries. ASEAN countries are the main stronghold for Taiwan’s first overseas operation. Facing the increasingly significant impact of global climate change, the New Southbound countries are paying more attention to soil and water conservation and other relevant mitigation work. In order to make the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) establish cooperative relations with the Southbound countries and develops the university-industry-government information sharing platform, Taiwan sent delegation to Thailand to participate into soil and water conservation technologies sharing and industry exchange on 14-19 November.

Prof. Chou, the direction of GIS.FCU, Dr. Fang, and Dr. Hoang, the first Vietnam Ph.D. student from GIS.FCU, went together to Vietnam for academic exchange programs on April 22 to 25, 2015. During the visit, Prof. Chou interviewed students of Thai Nguyen University (TNU) for applying graduate programs in Feng Chia University.

Feng Chia university (FCU) – Vice President Chuang Chien Chiu leaded a delegation together with Ass. Prof Liu Pei (Dean of OIA), Prof Dow (Dean of College of Information and Electrical Engineering), Distinguished Prof Tien Yin Chou (Director in GIS research Center), and Ms Hoang Thanh Van (PhD student in GIS.FCU) visited Thai Nguyen University TNU, Vietnam on 9-12 June 2014.

GIS.FCU has been targeting international partnership, and was devoted to find more development opportunities for spatial information.

Led by Jimmy Chou, a team of GIS.FCU researchers and staff participated in 2014 Cross-Strait Geoinformatics Academic Exchange China Cultural University on 3-4 July, 2014. Many speeches and talks were never ended. Prof. Yan Tai Lai from China Agricultural University concluded this exchange event between two institutes with words Harmony and Cooperation.

Two senior engineers of GIS.FCU visited The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan during June and July to cooperate on the radiation data and OGC standards.
