GIS.FCU Participated the OGC TC/PC 127th Meeting in Singapore

The 127th OGC Member Meeting was held in Singapore, where the GIS.FCU actively participated in this grand event. We continue to connect location, show why standards matter, and share how interoperable technologies with this meeting’s theme: Digital Twins Land and Sea. Other sessions will include AI/ML, Cloud, and more. GIS.FCU Director, Jimmy Chou delivered a keynote speech (The Disaster Management of Large Scale Landslide: A Case Study of Debris Flow Early Responding Systems) at the CREDM (Climate Resilience and EDM DWG) session based on Taiwan’s experience in managing landslides. At the same time, Deputy Division Manager Will Kuan of the Spatial Information and Environmental Planning Department of the GIS.FCU also gave a speech(Empowering Lives through Smart IoT Harnessing Sensors, APIs, and Disaster Resilience) at the same venue (CREDM) to implement the OGC Sensorthings API standard and apply it to the public Internet of Things for people’s livelihood.

Multiple times a year a quickly growing community of geospatial experts gathers to collaborate and advance the future of location through new, interoperable technologies and open standards that matter. This one-week event with nearly 50 Working Group meetings and numerous special sessions, workshops, and keynotes.

OGC Working Groups consist of Standards Working Groups – the movers and shakers of the future of FAIR data standards – and Domain Working Groups – thought-leaders in critical domains from across the globe and beyond. OGC designs, creates, tests, and supports the use of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data standards and technologies. OGC’s global community of experts connects the world to geospatial in key areas like climate, disaster-relief and response, marine, and more. They contribute to adapting to the impacts of extreme climates through spatial information, data standards, collaborative communication technologies, and more, making valuable contributions to humanity.
