We are thrilled to share the exciting news of GIS.FCU recent participated in the OGC Testbed-19 kick-off meeting held in Philadelphia, USA, at the headquarters of Cesium Corporation. This international collaboration, made possible by the easing of pandemic restrictions, was represented by Dr. Hao, Deputy Director of the Science and Management Division, and Senior Engineer Mr. Lai. The event, which took place from May 9th to May 12th, successfully concluded and marked the beginning of the annual flagship project of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

Testbed-19, supported by institutions such as the National Geospatial Agency(NGA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), and Natural Resource Canada (NRCan), attracted participation from over 30 teams worldwide. Our center actively took part in one of the most popular sessions of recent years, focusing on GeoDataCube. Over the course of two intense days, we engaged in discussions to confirm development directions, experienced the cultural impact of international standard collaboration, and had the opportunity to connect with potential future collaborators and tools. This event has further established a solid foundation for our company’s future OGC technical partnerships.

Discussion after the meeting

The OGC Testbed series is an annual major initiative convened by the Open Geospatial Consortium, with large institutions from Europe and America acting as sponsors. Through the practical experience of participants, the project aims to provide feedback for standard advancement. Consequently, the program usually concentrates on new spatial information technologies and applications of interest to these organizations. The main themes for this meeting were GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence), GeoDataCube, Analysis Ready Data (ARD), and High-Performance Computing.

In this regard, our center will be responsible for developing the data interface (Data Client) for GeoDataCube. This involves integrating GDC API and interpretive data based on different data cubes such as Open Data Cube, OpenEO, rasdaman, and others. Over the next six months, we will establish consensus through weekly conall meeting, collaboratively create a draft for the GDC API standard, and work along with Engineering Report Team.

We are excited about the progress made at the Testbed-19 kick-off meeting and look forward to sharing more updates with you as we continue to contribute to the advancement of OGC technology.
